A traditional American cake, simple and light.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Beat the butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Incorporate the eggs. Mix in the cream, milk, food coloring, and vanilla.
Gradually fold in the flour mixture on low speed just until combined. Do not overmix. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove from the pan and allow to cool completely on a rack.
For the frosting, beat the cream cheese, butter, sour cream, and vanilla in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
Finally, gradually mix in the powdered sugar until smooth. Coat the surface of the cooled cake with the icing.
