Mantecaos are small Spanish cookies made with lard. This recipe comes from my grandmother, who received it from her mother. When I visited her during vacations, I always left with a small bag filled with these treats. The taste of childhood!
Pour all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and knead with your fingertips until the dough comes together. Form small balls with your hands, flatten them slightly, then place them on a greased baking tray and bake in a medium oven (180°C) for 20 to 25 minutes. The cookies should be lightly golden.
