Empanadas are small stuffed pastries that are very popular in Spain and Latin America. Here is a delicious recipe for plain tuna empanadas.
Prepare the dough by mixing: flour, butter, and egg. Add water and knead until combined. Set aside in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, peel and chop the onion and garlic, and sauté them in a pan with a splash of olive oil.
Wash and finely chop the peppers, add them to the mixture, and sauté for 5 minutes.
Add the tomato sauce, stir, and let simmer for about ten minutes.
Open the can of tuna and pour it into the mixture. Add salt and pepper, and mix.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface, and form circles using a glass.
Spread a little filling on one side of the circle, moisten the edges of the circle, and fold over like a pocket.
Using a fork, create indentations to seal the pastries properly.
Place on a baking sheet, brush with egg yolk, and bake for 25 minutes at 180°C.
To finish, let cool for 5-10 minutes before enjoying!
