Here is a recipe for roasted farmhouse turkey with garlic butter, wrapped in smoked bacon, perfect for a festive meal. This recipe, featuring farmhouse turkey, yellow onions, smoked bacon, sage, paprika, and thyme, is easy to make and offers a refreshing twist to traditional recipes.
Prepare the garlic butter: mix together the butter, garlic, sage, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Using a spoon, coat the turkey entirely with the garlic butter (outside and cavity).
Place the slices of smoked bacon around the turkey (including thighs and wings). In a baking dish, place the onion slices at the bottom of the dish.
Place the turkey in the dish and add the chicken broth. Roast in the oven at 180°C for 2 hours and 30 minutes, depending on the size of the bird.
Baste the turkey with its cooking juices every 20 minutes. Once cooked, let the turkey rest for 10-15 minutes in the oven.
Meanwhile, mix the mushrooms with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, and lemon juice.
Place in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 200°C until they start to caramelize, about 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway through.
To finish, cook the butter over medium heat until it starts to develop a nice brown color, remove from heat, and incorporate it with the roasted mushrooms.
