And what if we tried the savory Babka? A recipe suggested by the Ham Consortium.
Preparation for the Babka bread (same process for white and dark Babka): sift the flours, add the sugar, and make a well. Dissolve the yeast in the milk, then pour it into the well. Mix vigorously until the dough is well combined.
At the last moment, add salt. Add the butter cut into small pieces and knead until well incorporated. Let the dough rise covered until it has doubled in volume.
Sprinkle the square of white dough with grated cheese, place slices of ham on top, then cover everything with the square of black dough. Roll the square out to form a cylinder.
To finish, cut the cylinder in half lengthwise, then braid the two halves. Place everything in a greased rectangular cake pan. Cover and let it double in size. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes.
