Discover this recipe for Flemish stew. A delicious dish made with beef in a sauce originating from Belgium. This beer stew is hearty and simple to make.
Preparation of the ingredients: Cut the meat into thick slices. Peel the onions and carrots, and slice them into rounds.
Cooking In a pot, brown the slices of meat in the butter. Season. Add the flour, onions, and carrots. Mix well and let cook for 5 minutes while stirring, to soften the onions without coloring them.
Preparation of the sauce. Add the vinegar and cook for 2 minutes. Then add the beer, 500 ml of water, the brown sugar, thyme, bay leaves, cloves, and 5 slices of gingerbread cut into pieces. Bring to a boil, cover, then reduce the heat to let it simmer for 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Finishing Remove the lid, increase the heat, and cook uncovered, stirring, until the sauce has reduced by half.
Presentation Grill the remaining slices of gingerbread and cut into cubes. Serve the stew with fries and the grilled gingerbread cubes.
