A recipe designed to prepare apples in a simple and delicious way. The proportions are suitable for a small dish like a lunch box.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar and the egg until light and fluffy. Add the flour and baking powder. Mix well to obtain a smooth batter.
Add the milk, then the melted butter, and mix again.
Peel and cut ¾ of the apple into cubes and ¼ into thin slices. Drizzle with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.
Sauté the diced apples in a pan with a little butter and a packet of vanilla sugar for 5 minutes.
Butter a small mold (15x20cm).
Prepare the caramel. Put 55g of sugar in a saucepan. Wait for the sugar to start melting and caramelizing. As soon as it reaches a nice caramel color, remove the saucepan from the heat. Quickly pour it into your cake pan.
Place the diced apples and pour the cake batter over them.
Arrange the apple slices and sprinkle a packet of vanilla sugar over them.
To finish, bake for about 20 minutes. Enjoy cold or warm.
