With each bite, this dish of smashed potatoes creates a perfect dance between creaminess and crispiness, accompanied by its essential side: tomato sauce!
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Wash the potatoes and place them in a bowl. Add some sea salt, a drizzle of oil, paprika, crushed garlic cloves, and herbs.
Mix everything together, then spread the seasoned potatoes on a baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Cut the cheese into thin slices of 1 cm and divide them into three sections lengthwise.
Upon removing from the oven, mash the cooked potatoes using the bottom of a jar or the back of a spoon and place them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Place slices of cheese on each mashed potato and bake for 30 minutes.
To finish, let cool on a rack for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with a tomato sauce!
