Slice the peeled potatoes into thin rounds and arrange them in a buttered dish with the chopped garlic.
Gently heat the milk, cream, and cornstarch in a saucepan. Add salt and pepper, then pour over the potatoes.
To finish, COOK for about fifty minutes in an oven preheated to 160°C.
