Recipe for Mini Sausage Puff Pastry Tree

Yields10 ServingsPrep Time30 minsCook Time30 minsTotal Time1 hr

Today, I suggest a tree made of mini sausages in puff pastry. An appetizer for year-end festivities. It's pretty, it decorates the table, and it's enjoyable to eat. This is not the first time I've made it, and it has always been a big hit with everyone. Plus, it's easy to prepare, and you can involve the kids in the process. They will love it. To vary the flavors, I used a mix of spiced sausages. You can also offer sauces to accompany them. It's truly delicious.

Ingredients
45 Mini sausages (23 mini Indian sausages and 22 mini Creole sausages for me - about 500 g)
 1 Milk (or water)
Sesame or poppy seeds for sprinkling (optional)
Directions
1

Pre-cook the sausages for 1 minute in boiling water. Let cool.

2

Preheat the oven to 180°C (or 200°C for conventional heat).

3

Unroll the puff pastry and cut circles about 2 cm wide, working from the outside toward the inside. Then cut each circle into strips approximately 12-13 cm long. I obtained 26 strips from each pastry and needed 45 sausages to create the tree.

4

Wrap each small sausage in a piece of dough, enveloping it. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, forming a tree (from bottom to top): 2 rows of 6 + 2 rows of 5 + 2 rows of 4 + 2 rows of 3 + 2 rows of 2 + 2 rows of 1 and 3 sausages for the base. Position the sausages side by side.

5

In a small bowl, mix the egg yolk with the milk (or water).

6

Brush the sausages with this glaze. Depending on your preference, sprinkle with sesame or other seeds (sesame and poppy seeds for me).

7

Bake for about 25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.

8

Finally, you can serve them hot or cold, on their own or accompanied by sauces.
