Baked macaroni is a true comfort dish, perfect for winter evenings or when you need a hearty and flavorful meal. This recipe combines the tenderness of pasta with a rich creamy sauce, along with the flavor of ham and the crunch of golden breadcrumbs.
Melt the butter, add the flour all at once, mix vigorously, and let it turn golden. As soon as it turns golden, add the milk all at once and stir until boiling to prevent lumps from forming. Add the cream, grated cheese, ham, nutmeg, paprika, then season with salt and pepper.
To finish, in a dish, alternate a layer of cooked macaroni, sauce, and cheese. On the last layer, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and a few pieces of butter. Place in the oven at 225°C. Remove when it is nicely browned.
