Enjoy this apple, nut, and honey cake. A cake made with quality ingredients: golden apples and nuts, all sweetened and flavored with delicious citrus honey. A delight that pairs perfectly with a little coffee.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Peel the whole apples. Slice three of them after removing the seeds. Cut the last one in half, core it, and slice it into rounds. Drizzle with lemon juice.
Arrange the slices on the bottom of a 26-centimeter diameter cake pan. Place a walnut half in each apple slice. Blend the remaining walnuts with 20 g of sugar; the mixture should be consistent but not too fine.
Mix the softened butter with the remaining sugar until you obtain an almost white paste. Then add the honey and mix again. Incorporate the eggs one by one while whisking, then add the sifted flour and the chopped nuts. Add the apple slices and mix.
Cover the apple slices with the nut mixture. Bake for 50 minutes in the oven (check for doneness with a knife blade). Let it cool slightly before removing from the mold.
