Recipe for ultra indulgent and super easy baked apples!
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Place the sugar in a saucepan (oven-safe if possible) and let it cook until it is golden. Add the butter and stir. Be careful of splashes!
Peel the apples and then remove the core using an apple corer. Place the apples in the pan for a few minutes, covering them well with caramel.
If your pot cannot go in the oven, pour the contents into an oven-safe dish and cover it with a lid or an inverted pie dish. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes, turning the apples occasionally and being careful not to damage them. Once cooked and nicely golden, you can place them in small ramekins.
To reduce the sweetness, you can pour lime juice into the caramel. Stir.
To finish, generously pour the caramel over each apple. Add a veil of whipped cream on top for extra indulgence and some lime zest.
