Mloukhya is a traditional recipe from the Maghreb, made with beef and a sauce that simmers for several hours. Mloukhya is typically served with rice.
Cut the beef into pieces. Peel and slice the onion. Peel and chop the garlic.
Mix the beef, garlic, bay leaves, and tomato paste. Let marinate for 4 hours.
Sauté the onion in hot oil. Add the pieces of meat (without the marinade) and brown them on each side for a few minutes.
To finish, add the marinade and the powder, cover with water to the appropriate level. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer on very low heat for 5 hours, stirring occasionally.
