Pasta with Pesto Recipe

If you want to enjoy good pasta, this is the Italian recipe to make. You can then serve it as a side dish with chicken or another meat, or even with some halved cherry tomatoes. Here, it's a sauce similar to pesto but without cheese or pine nuts.

 3 cloves Chopped garlic

    Confusion between Pesto and Pistou I notice that in the comments many confuse the Italian Pesto (basil, garlic, pine nuts, and olive oil) and the Provençal Pistou (basil, garlic, and olive oil). For your information, for the pistou soup, grated aged cheese is added or, brought by the Italians, parmesan. Never, oh never, should cheese like Gruyère be used, which is absurd.

    pistou vs pesto To respond to other comments: Indeed, the real recipe for pesto is made with pine nuts, but this is a pistou that is made without pine nuts and with garlic. Thank you for this simple recipe.

    Quick and easy Simple, quick to make when you have unexpected guests. My suggestion: Before basil became popular outside the southeast, I used parsley instead (1970s).
