Peas as our grandparents cooked them: with bacon, onions, potatoes... The bacon can be replaced by another meat. Here is a recipe for peas in old-fashioned sauce.
Shell and rinse the peas. Peel, wash, and dice the potato. Peel and thinly slice the onion. Peel and chop the garlic. Cut the bacon slices into thin strips.
Sauté the onion and garlic in butter for 4 minutes. Add the bacon and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
To finish, add the potato, green peas, tomato paste, enough water to cover, salt, and pepper. Cover. Cook for about 20 minutes.
