Recipe for Filled Cookies Shaped Like Nuts

AuthorCategoryDifficultyBeginner

These chocolate cookies filled in the shape of nuts, I had seen them a while ago on the wonderful blog of my dear friend. They require small molds in the shape of half nuts. This recipe comes straight from Romania, where they are present on every Christmas table.

Prep Time15 minsCook Time12 minsTotal Time27 mins
Ingredients
 125 Flour
 100 Soft butter
 65 Icing sugar
 35 Walnut halves
 23 Liquid vanilla drops
 1 Unsweetened cocoa
 6 Speculoos
 50 Walnut halves
 25 Butter
1 Good spoonful of spreadable paste.
Directions
1

In the bowl of a mixer or by hand, mix the flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla, and chopped walnuts. Add the butter cut into pieces and mix. Form a ball of dough, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (I left it overnight).

2

The next day, shape small balls of 7g and press each greased mold into a half shell shape using your thumb. Place the molds in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10-15 minutes (12 minutes for me). Let cool completely before unmolding.

3

The cream. Blend the cookies and the walnut halves. Mix them well with the melted butter and the spread.

4

Fill each nut shell with this cream. Assemble the nuts by joining the two halves together. You can decorate them with powdered sugar or not. These cookies keep very well for several days in a tin.
