Griwech is a honey cake. It is traditionally served during Ramadan. Here is an easy recipe for crispy griwech.
Melt the butter. Beat the egg. Add the melted butter. Mix.
Add the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla, orange blossom water, and saffron. Mix until you obtain a smooth batter.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2 mm. Cut rectangles measuring 12 cm by 7 cm with a pastry wheel.
For each rectangle of dough: cut 4 strips along the length, leaving 1.5 cm at the top; then braid the strips.
Fry the cakes until they are golden. Drain.
Finally, soak them in warm honey, then drain and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
