Beautiful golden apples... and the idea of a cake where they are used whole to fully enjoy them. By adding nuts and a strong, unmistakable lemon honey, I made this cake that was very well received!
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cut the butter into small pieces and let it sit at room temperature.
In a mixing bowl, place the butter and powdered sugar and mix with a wooden spoon until you have a cream. Incorporate the eggs one by one, sift together the flour and baking powder, and add them to the mixture.
Shelled and coarsely chop the nuts and incorporate them into the mixture (set aside a few pieces). Add the honey and mix (set aside a spoonful).
Butter and flour the mold and pour the batter inside. Peel the Golden apples. Use an apple corer to remove the cores. Keep three whole apples and cut one in half.
Gently insert three apples into the batter, then place half of the fourth apple on each side of the three apples, with the open side facing the wall of the pan. Bake for 40 minutes.
To finish, before unmolding the cake, let it cool completely. Drizzle a little honey on top and add a few walnut halves. ENJOY!
