Preheat the oven to 175°C (thermostat 6) and line the muffin pans with paper liners.

For the icing, beat the softened butter until it is creamy, then add the vanilla. With the mixer set to low speed, gradually add the powdered sugar. Then add the milk while increasing the speed. Beat well for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy. You can then color the icing with food coloring if desired.
To finish, using a piping bag, top your cupcakes with your frosting. You can now have fun decorating them according to your theme or imagination!
