Enjoy these delicious meringues made with a food processor!
Making powdered sugar: if you don't have powdered sugar in your pantry, you can easily make some using your blender. To do this, place sugar cubes in the bowl and blend at speed 10 for 17 seconds. Thanks to the speed of the blender, the sugar will achieve a texture similar to powdered sugar.
Making the meringue: to make the meringues, start by pouring all the egg whites, a pinch of salt, and half of the granulated sugar into the mixing bowl. It is advisable to take the eggs out at least 30 minutes before starting the recipe so that they are at room temperature when mixed.
To successfully complete the recipe, do not add the egg yolks; however, you can set them aside to make mayonnaise, custards, desserts, or English cream... When the ingredients are in the bowl, set the device to speed 3 for 5 minutes.
After five minutes, pour the second part of the powdered sugar into the bowl and mix again at speed 3, but this time for 3 minutes. When the timer signals the end of the 3 minutes, add the 70 grams of icing sugar previously obtained to the mixture. To combine, reduce the speed of the whisk to speed 2 and wait just one minute.
Meringue assembly: place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking tray, then pour the mixture into a piping bag. Using the bag, form the meringues on the tray, spacing them well apart from each other.
Adjust their size according to the intended use. For example, make small meringues if they are to be used as decoration on a cake. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 90°C with fan assistance.
Baking the meringues: once all the meringues are formed, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven at a low temperature for 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the size of the meringues. When baking is complete, let the meringues dry in the oven for two hours with the door slightly open.
To finish, these meringues can be enhanced with slivered almonds or cocoa powder, making them enjoyable on their own as a dessert or snack. They can also be used to decorate a bowl of ice cream, a cake, a log cake, or even a dessert.
