Preparation of leeks: Cut each leek white into two sections. Reserve the green part for another use (such as a soup).
Cooking the leeks: Immerse the white parts of the leeks in boiling salted water for 15 minutes, then drain them and wrap each one in a slice of ham.
Preparation of the béchamel sauce In a small saucepan, melt the butter with the flour and stir. Slowly add the milk while continuously whisking. Season with salt, pepper, and add nutmeg. Thicken by stirring for 4 to 5 minutes.
Preparation of the gratin: Grease a baking dish and pour two-thirds of the béchamel sauce into the bottom. Place the leeks wrapped in ham on top of the béchamel. Cover with the remaining béchamel. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
Cooking Bake for 15 minutes at 200°C. Serve hot. Enjoy your meal!
