For a warm meal on chilly evenings, this baked potato dish recipe is a simple delight to prepare. Inspired by a famous alpine dish, it combines the richness of melted cheese with fluffy potatoes, savory bacon, and caramelized onions. Everything goes into the oven until an irresistible golden crust is achieved. Easy to make with common ingredients, this hearty bake will please the whole family while bringing warmth to their hearts.
In a pot, cook your potatoes with the skin on for about 20 minutes. Then, drain the hot water from your pot and add cold water so your potatoes can cool down. Meanwhile, in a pan, sauté your onions, previously sliced thinly. Add your bacon, season with salt and pepper. Once your onions and bacon are golden, add 2 tablespoons of thick cream. Stir and remove your pan from the heat.
Peel your potatoes. Cut them into slices that are neither too thin nor too thick. Arrange them in a baking dish. Spread your onions and bacon over the entire surface of the dish.
Cut your cheese in half lengthwise and then widthwise. Place your four pieces of cheese on your onions and bacon. Put your dish in the oven preheated to 250°C (thermostat 8). As soon as your cheese is melted and slightly golden, your dish is ready.
