Clean the cherries. Butter and flour the dish. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar until the mixture turns pale. Gradually incorporate the flour (3 tablespoons at a time, it creates fewer lumps!) and the milk little by little.
Mix the fruits so that they are coated with the batter. Pour into the dish and sprinkle with small pieces of butter.
Preheat the oven. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes according to your taste (longer if you are using frozen cherries as they release water). Lower the oven temperature to 180°C halfway through baking to prevent it from darkening too quickly.
