Delicious homemade burgers, well-filled... but with a twist!
Peel and finely slice the yellow onion. In a pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion with the sugar for 10 to 12 minutes until it is well caramelized. Stir regularly.
Cut the small grain rolls in half and toast them in the toaster. Preheat the oven to 240°C. In a mixing bowl, add the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Form 4 meatballs by hand and flatten them slightly to the size of burgers.
Remove the onions from the pan and wipe it clean. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in the pan (unless it is non-stick) over medium to high heat. Sear the steaks for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, depending on the desired doneness. Slice the cheese into pieces.
Rinse and slice the tomato into thick rounds. Mix the mustard with the caramelized onions and blend well. On the bottom halves of the bread, place a little onion confit with mustard, a steak, a slice of tomato, and the cheese slices. Close the burgers. Bake the burgers for 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
To finish, serve the burgers accompanied by matchstick fries and a garlic green salad. Enjoy your meal!
