Enjoy these chocolate Christmas trees. Here is a simple recipe that you can easily make with the kids for their delight while waiting for Christmas!
Preheat your oven to 180° and melt the chocolate in a double boiler. In a mixing bowl, combine the soft butter with the sugar until you achieve a smooth mixture. Add the beaten eggs in two parts. Incorporate the melted chocolate into the mixture in two additions, mixing vigorously.
Sift your flour into which you will have added the baking powder, then add it to your batter and mix well. Butter and flour your round cake pan (you can place a round piece of parchment paper at the bottom to facilitate removal), pour in your batter, and bake for 30 minutes. Be careful to let your cake cool completely on a wire rack before removing it from the pan and then cut it into 8 pieces. You will cut straight across the round edge that represents the bottom of the tree. Gently insert the candy canes; they are ready to be decorated!
In a bowl, prepare the royal icing: mix your egg white with 200 grams of powdered sugar using a spoon, add your colorant sparingly, then a few drops of lemon juice. If your mixture seems too thick, add a few drops of water, but it should not be too runny.
To finish, pour the mixture into your piping bag, cut the tip, and then arrange the dough on your trees from left to right as shown in the photo. Add your little balls and then your stars, sticking them on with royal icing, and lightly dust with powdered sugar to give a snow effect. There you go, isn't it time for a snack? Enjoy!
