Dip the potatoes in boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes. Check with the tip of a knife that they are cooked through, then drain them and peel. Mash the potatoes and set aside.
Cut the butter into small pieces and set it aside at room temperature to soften. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a double boiler and then set it aside.
Mix the softened butter and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Gradually add the mashed potatoes and the eggs one by one.
Add the melted chocolate to the mixture and stir until you achieve a smooth batter. Pour the batter into a previously greased cake pan.
Bake for 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 170°C. Remove the cake from the oven and sprinkle with slivered almonds.
To finish, Tip: You can serve the cake with a seasonal fruit coulis.
