Enjoy this Acorn Cake. Extremely nutritious, acorns have traditionally served as a staple food, usually prepared in a savory version. Acorn pie is a dessert. To fully appreciate it, it's best to leave a little room at the end of the meal… A recipe extracted from the book "Edible Wild Plants."
Toast the acorns in a pan to make them easier to shell.
Chop them roughly and put them to cook in a large volume of water.
When the water is brown, discard it while filtering out the acorns and cook them again in new water.
Repeat the process if necessary.
Add the milk, the raisins, the ground spices, and the sugar, and cook for about 10 minutes.
Let it cool, add the beaten eggs, and pour into the pre-baked pie crust.
Bake in the oven at 180 °C for 15 minutes and serve warm or cold.
To finish Precautions for use: Consumed in large quantities, unprocessed acorns can cause headaches and digestive issues due to their tannins.
